An Innovative Instructional Approach
All workshops give students an opportunity to practice building their participation and oral presentation skills in collaborative learning groups.
Most important is the safe environment that is generated before any learning occurs. Our primary goal is to:
-
Build listening comprehension skills
-
Introduce supportive active listening practices in the performance setting
-
Empower the voices of students that are hidden within
-
Play with language in a meaningful and constructive manner

“A turntable’s primary job is to keep the stylus in the groove, because that’s where the music is.
It’s a delicate operation, in some ways a literal balancing act, and vibration can get in the way of that operation. If the stylus isn’t getting a smooth ride, you won’t get good sound."
This quote spoke to me and the work we do at The Educationalist Method.
The philosophy and approach of an Educationalist is similar in that students are the center of the work that we do and we use all the pieces of the metaphorical turntable to limit any vibrations or sounds that will disrupt the learning process.
Educationalists are skilled and crafted. We don’t just show up to the classroom and start playing bangers. And we most certainly do not take requests and perform on the fly.
We understand that without
- a set unit plan,
- critical lens,
- cultural literacy,
- respect for youth culture,
- collaborative relationships with veteran teachers,
- scaffolded lessons with rigorous tasks that lead to mastery, and
- Hip Hop based education,
our set is doomed to failure.
We are producers, Emcee’s, DJ’s, street artists, performers, and explorers of knowledge and consciousness.
The turntable is the instrument we use to bring our students talents, abilities, skills, and imagination to life in a concrete and real way.

There is so much that teachers and students can learn from Mannikka’s talent, knowledge, and vibrancy.
Project Write Now is grateful to partner with Mannikka Rosa and have her lead teachers and students in expressing their authentic voices.
Mannikka’s passion for hip hop education is contagious, and her generous spirit and compassionate methods bring out the best in every child.
She is also a brilliant spoken word artist whose performances are nuanced and thought-provoking, blending her own voice with complex social issues that engage the listener.
There is so much that teachers and students can learn from Mannikka’s talent, knowledge, and vibrancy. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
-Jennifer Chauhan, co-founder and executive director, Project Write Now
Hi! My name is Mannikka!
I am a creative unconventional methods enthusiast, and I love to build and reprogram operational systems.
I found that I have a knack for redefining and reassessing programs within the education industry and in 2021, I decided to share my gift with other educators around the world.
As a teaching guide, I help educators and students rediscover their voice, their mission, and their purpose.
